Pacifica Companies’ Hypocrisy: There have been 11 staff layoffs at Sakura ICF in recent months

Following Pacifica Companies’ published desire to close the Sakura Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) in Boyle Heights, the ONLY facility of its kind for Japanese American and Japanese seniors in the entire United States, eleven staff have been laid off, including staff all important to the historically exceptionally high-quality bilingual and bi-cultural care that the facility has been known for.

This has occurred despite widespread opposition from the community, multiple elected officials and even the California Department of Public Health. Pacifica is continuing to do whatever they can to cut costs and push residents out of the facility to make way for more profitable high-rent housing.
