In commemoration of the 1942 mass incarceration and violation of the Constitutional Rights of over 110,000 Japanese Americans, parallels were drawn with the threat of displacement of senior citizens from the Boyle Heights Sakura Intermediate Care Facility by international develpor, Pacifica Companies.

Traci Imamura of SOS read a statement, pointing out that Pacifica Companies may attempt to transfer residents aged from their 80’s to 100’s to a skilled nursing facility, Kei-Ai Los Angeles with a dangerously high cumulative death rate and urged people to join SOS in taking action on February 25, 2021. Chairman of the Community Advisory Board (CAB), Kenneth Hayashida, M.D. gave a heartfelt statement regarding the essential need for bilingual and bi-cultural services and noted the broad unity and friendship with the LatinX community. Also reading statements were representatives from other elected officials, including LA County Board of Supervisor Hilda Solis and Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and Koreisha Senior Care and Advocacy.
